How do people believe in god.

I was born into Christianity, as of lately I am beginning to question if Jesus was real or not, we are told of stories, read the bible and we believe in something that we have no idea is actually there. If there was a true god where has he been for the last 2000 years, why hasn't he shown up? How can people blindly accept his way?

  1. Quote from CSI :) (Grissom)

"You're primitive man on the savannah. You see something move out of the corner of your eye. You assume it's a hyena. You run, you live. If you assume it's the wind and you're wrong, you die. We have the genes of the ones who ran. We're genetically hard-wired to believe living forces that we cannot see."

So we are used to "see" things that do not exist..

  2. Religion is something that shouldn't be taken as fact. It's called a faith for a reason. I was really born into a mixed house, but now that I'm older I question God and whatnot.

  6. It varies from person to person.

Originally, in the old days before Bill Nye brought the gift of science, people used deities to explain things (gravity, oceans, purpose, etc).

  7. The battle between theists and non-theists will never end :S I personally don't believe in God but I admit that religion played an important role in culture and cannot just be ignored.

  10. Well, Jesus was as real as any other historical figure. The question is whether or not he was/is the son of God. That is, of course, something you must determine yourself.

  16. There is no way to argue with religion. Just let it be, eventually people will come to their senses.

  17. I'm a believer and it's primarily because of my family and how I've seen his influence in my life.

  20. couple nights ago i was drunk with some friends and i said "i'm pretty positive there is a god because that many bad things can't happen like that without some kind of divine intervention" and then i proceeded to explain how terrible it was to forget something upstairs and not get my key in the lock the first try. it's just the little insignificant things that end up spiraling out of control.

  25. I've thought about this a lot. If there is a God, no matter that God's form, I don't think I'd take time out of my life to worship. God is supposed to be perfect. If he/she/it requires me to take time out of my day to pray and to worship, then it is vain. If God is vain, God isn't perfect and, therefore, isn't God at all.

  26. Maybe Jesus didn't exist, but that doesn't mean a deity like God is impossible. And I don't think believing in God makes you a moron like everyone else seems to think, I don't think I'm a moron lol
